The TideReply plugin adds the chat to every page of your WordPress site. If you run
WooCommerce, it also lets customers ask about their orders right in the chat.
You need a TideReply account. If you don't have one yet, choose a plan on the pricing page first.
- 1
Install the plugin
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New, search for TideReply, click Install Now, then Activate.
You can also download it from wordpress.org.
- 2
Connect to TideReply
Go to Settings > TideReply and click Connect to TideReply. Sign in to TideReply if asked.
- 3
Approve the connection
TideReply shows Connect your WordPress site. Under Connect to which business?, choose your business and click Approve connection.
Only workspace admins can approve a connection.
- 4
You're live
Back in WordPress you'll see Connected to TideReply. The chat widget is now live on your site. Open your site and ask the chat a question.
Order answers for WooCommerce
If WooCommerce is active when you connect, customers can ask about their orders in the chat. They give their order number and the email they ordered with, and TideReply answers with the order's status.
- Your site must use HTTPS for order answers. Without it the chat still works, but order answers stay off.
- Turned on WooCommerce after connecting? Go to Settings > TideReply and click Reconnect.
You can check the status in your TideReply dashboard under Settings > WooCommerce.
Hide the chat without disconnecting
In Settings > TideReply, untick Show the chat widget on this site.
Connect with an API key instead
If the connect button doesn't work (for example, a security plugin blocks it), connect by hand:
- In your TideReply dashboard, open Settings > WordPress and copy the key under Manual setup.
- In WordPress, go to Settings > TideReply, paste it into API key under Manual setup, and click Connect with API key.
Disconnect
Click Disconnect in Settings > TideReply, or deactivate the plugin.
Without the plugin
You can also add the chat with a code snippet plugin such as WPCode. See Install on any website. Use the plugin or the snippet, not both, or you'll see two chat bubbles.
